Mirror, Mirror

Women are constantly ogled by men and scrutinized by other women.
With a mirror as a canvas, I intend not only to draw attention to the idea that women are a reflection of society and its ideal beauty standards, but I want viewers to see themselves in the piece. Looking at the painting, some parts of the mirror show through to reflect the viewers’ faces back at them. The viewers should become increasingly aware of themselves and how they look at the nude woman.
The Viewer should feel the same discomfort that women and other minorities feel under society’s gaze. Viewers should be shocked by their own reflections as they see themselves studying, scrutinizing, and staring at this woman’s body.
